Mortimer Electric Inc. in Bedford, Pennsylvania, takes pride in its history of serving the area for more than 62 years. Our electrical maintenance engineers and HVAC contractors are still driven by the same dedication as they were when the company was founded. The family atmosphere that endures within the business makes certain that our owners and employees work together to meet the electrical, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration needs of customers.
Our Humble Beginnings
Originally from Ohio, Elson moved to Bedford in the late 1930's to learn the electrical trade from his uncle, Lawson Mortimer. Elson started his own business in 1946 and ran it from the garage at his home. Elson founded Mortimer Electric in 1954 and purchased the site of the corporate office in 1957.
Our Growth & Progress
Elson had a son, Dent, who joined his father as an electrician, after returning from the Marine Corps and service in Vietnam in 1969. In 1984, Dent purchased the company from his father. His experience and foresight enabled the company to grow quickly to include the plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and the refrigeration trades, as well as expanding the electrical division.
Our Continued Success
The current President of the company, who is the third generation of Mortimer's, is JD. JD Mortimer began learning all of the trades in his early teens and began working full-time for the company in 1986. Despite all the changes, our company's vision has remained the same for decades: we bring power to the people.
